Cinnamon rolls - Kanelbullar

Ingredients

Dough

25g yeast

50g butter or margarine

300ml milk

30g icing sugar

1 pinch of salt

480g flour


filling

100 g room temperature butter or margarine

1 tbsp. cinnamon

60g icing sugar


Topping

1 egg

Sugar granules

preparation

Crumble the yeast in a bowl.

Melt the butter in a saucepan or in the microwave (max. 800 W).

Add the milk and heat to approx. 37 °C.

Stir the yeast into the butter-milk mixture until it has dissolved.

Add sugar, salt and wheat flour and knead the dough by hand or with a machine until smooth.

Cover the dough and let it rise for about 45 minutes, until it has at least doubled in size.


For the filling

Mix the warm butter with cinnamon and sugar until smooth.

Roll out the dough to approx. 30x40 cm.

Spread the filling on top and roll it up from the long side.

Cut the roll into pieces about 2 cm wide.

Place the pieces cut side up on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

Let the snails rise for about 20 minutes.


Spreading and baking

Brush the cinnamon rolls with beaten egg and sprinkle with some granulated sugar.

Bake at 250 °C for about 8 minutes.

Allow to cool on a wire rack before packing in a bag or jar with a lid
